Get involved by volunteering with GAAP today. GAAP’s volunteer program offers a unique opportunity for students and community members to make a difference. We are always looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to help us serve clients at our drop-in clinic.

GAAP relies on the generosity and strength of our volunteers to staff the drop-in clinic and provide the majority of our essential services. Volunteers are encouraged to commit to three hours per week at the clinic, open every day, except Wednesdays, from 9am-12pm, and 1:30pm-4pm. GAAP provides training and support to volunteers who assist and counsel clients. As a result, volunteers gain rich and valuable knowledge and experience working directly with clients, and handle challenging cases with support, supervision, and careful attention. As one volunteer described,

“Volunteering at GAAP has been truly amazing. It’s been very positive, in the sense that my communication and leadership skills have improved tremendously. The Executive Director assigns many tasks to me…thus, my experience in the challenging environment that GAAP offers has proven to be very beneficial.”

GAAP’s clients are served by over 50 committed volunteers, including law students from the University of California- Hastings College of the Law and other Bay Area law schools, Bonner/Americorp Leaders from St. Mary’s College of California, undergraduates, community volunteers, and high school students. For more information, contact Bill Hart at gaapbhart@gmail.com or call (415) 928-8191.

Join us at GAAP’s annual raffle at the Temple Bar & Bistro in April 2010. There will be hundreds of great prizes, including tickets to sporting events, gift certificates to local restaurants and other surprise items.

Raffle tickets are only $1 each and help support GAAP’s mission. Because the average cost of helping each one of our clients is $4, purchasing just four tickets means one additional GAAP client receives supportive services and advocacy. Contact Bill Hart to purchase tickets or donate prizes.
