In 1985 a group of students from University of California-Hastings College of Law formed GAAP in response to the unmet need for advocacy on behalf of the homeless and those in imminent danger of joining their ranks. Since its humble beginnings when the advocates worked out of a local shelter two days a week, GAAPoperates a drop-in clinic four days a week. GAAP's
clients are served by over fifty committed volunteers: law students from UC
Hastings and other Bay Area law schools, 2 Bonner/Americorp Leaders from St.
Mary' College of California, undergraduates and community volunteers. To find out more about volunteer opportunities at GAAP, please contact
