GAAP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation
supported by foundations, individual donors and of course the work of our
dedicated volunteers. Your support will help GAAP to:
-
counsel individuals on the various benefits available
to them and help them through the application process
-
escort disabled and disoriented clients through the
application process
-
help individuals resolve disputes with social service
caseworkers
-
represent clients who have had their benefits denied
or discontinued
-
provide advocacy and other law-related training to
future attorneys while increasing awareness about an under-represented
segment of society
-
network with other organizations in the legal and
Tenderloin communities to address problems facing homeless people
-
bring our services to the community through outreach
programs at local shelters and soup kitchens
-
refer clients to low-income
housing, shelters, and legal, medical and drug rehabilitation services
-
provide office services such as phones, fax machines,
computers with internet access and a photocopier to make it possible for
clients to do their own advocacy
-
offer a warm, supportive environment to people who
are trying to make their way through the dehumanizing social welfare system
